I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.

Psalm 34:1-3

A friend of mine had been going through a time of intense pressure at work. He was part of a team that was working toward a deadline, and my friend told me that he “was really in the groove, knocking it out, doing a great job.” He was having a good time and getting the job done.

Then one morning during my friend’s devotions, the Lord said, “What about Me? I’m the One enabling you to do this.” My friend was convicted; he had not been giving the Lord the praise for what He had done. So on his way to work, he committed to giving God all the praise for what he accomplished.

God gave him an opportunity to do just that in a staff meeting that very morning. The team was brainstorming about what they could do to stay on target and get the project done on time. When the leader wrote “Prayer” on the board, the person beside my friend said, “Aw, that’s crazy. Don’t bring that stuff into the workplace.”

My friend spoke up and said, “Wait a minute, wait a minute. I gotta tell you, prayer works.” And he began to tell how the Lord had been helping him to do such a good job.

God will give you such opportunities if you’ll make yourself available. Tell Him you’re available today, and then give Him praise for all He does.
