The Real Challenge

Ron Luce is in teen ministry and speaks to young people all over the country. He says we’re in “a war for the heart and soul of a generation that we can win, if we all take action.”

What are you doing to take action to win the hearts of a new generation? I really believe that God wants us to use every available means to reach every available person. And one of the challenges of today is connecting with the current generation of young people.

The real challenge is to live out what you profess. There’s a sort of disconnect in America, and young people are quick to see it. There are too many believers whose mouths are saying one thing while their actions are saying something else. And not only young people, but people of all ages are watching those who bear the name of Christ.

How are you living? How are you representing Jesus Christ in all that you do? Ephesians 5 (NLT) is filled with encouragement for us:

  • “Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ “ (verse 2).
  • “Live as people of the light!” (verse 8).
  • “Carefully determine what pleases the Lord” (verse 10).
  • “Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness “(verse 11).
  • “Be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise” (verse 15).
  • “Make the most of every opportunity” (verse 16).
  • “Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do” (verse 17).

How do you understand what the Lord wants you to do? Read the Word, my friend. Read it, study it, ask God to speak to you through it. Just this one chapter in Ephesians covers a lot of territory. Read the entire chapter; Paul also talks about specific sins you need to “take no part in.”

You can help win the war, and you must help win the battle to reach a new generation for Christ. Your life must match what your mouth professes. It’s going to take all believers representing Jesus Christ 24/7 as a way of life and allowing Him to live in us and through us as we declare His glory.

Pit Stop Prayer

“Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees! Then I will not be ashamed when I compare myself with your commands” (Psalm 119:5-6, NLT).
