Perfect Peace

I once posted this Scripture on my Facebook page:

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

In return, I received all kinds of thank-you notes. People are obviously yearning for peace. In today’s world, where do you find peace? How can you have peace in your life?

Jesus said He would give you a peace that can never be found in anything of this world. God’s peace goes beyond your ability to understand it. Even in situations where peace seems impossible, God can give His peace.

In Philippians 4:7, Paul says the peace of God will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Don’t you feel sometimes as though your heart and mind need a guard around them, some protection from all this world throws at you? The word picture that I see in this verse is that of an armed guard standing at attention and ready for action against any attack.

The peace of God is like that; it surrounds your heart and mind in Christ Jesus, no matter what’s going on around you. It protects you from all the plots of the evil one, who likes to shoot darts of worry, anxiety, doubt and fear into your being.

May the peace of God, which is beyond anything you can comprehend, guard your heart and mind today. If you don’t have that peace, get to know Him. Trust Him. Ask Him for peace.

Pit Stop Praise

Praise God today with these verses from a hymn by Edward H. Bickersteth Jr.: “Peace, perfect peace, in this dark world of sin? The blood of Jesus whispers peace within. Peace, perfect peace, our future all unknown? Jesus we know, and He is on the throne.”
