December Update

“I’ll be home for Christmas, you can count on me. I’ll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams.”

Most likely you have heard this Christmas mainstay many times. During this wonderful time of year, most of us enjoy spending time with those dearest to us and reminiscing about heartwarming memories around the Christmas tree. Many people may not be coming home for Christmas, and it is not by desire but rather necessity. Those sacrificing time with their family to ensure that you and I have the opportunity to enjoy ours include our military and medical personnel, first responders, and many more. It is humbling to know and understand the selfless commitment to service made by these outstanding men and women.

I urge you to remember those away from their families this Christmas season, not only in prayer and in thought, but also in deed. As you drive to Christmas dinner, church, or stop for gas, if you happen to see one of these folks, buy them a coffee, offer to pay for their order or gas, or shake their hand and thank them for what they do. It is a small price to pay as you go home for Christmas, while they will be home for Christmas, only in their dreams.
